May 1 – June 9

ONE-MILE WALK

For this challenge, we’ll put our phones down and leave our TV, computers, and other daily distractions and head out for a one-mile walk every night. This will help to “jump start” the year-long fitness side of TN40D project, but it will also give us the chance to connect more on a deeper level away from things that would normally suck up our attention.

June 10 – July 20

LIVING OFF OF $10/DAY
NO MONEY SPENT IN RESTAURANTS

As a part of our new endeavor to be healthier people, we have taken on a new diet plan. Because of the restrictions for this new lifestyle, it will be nearly impossible to live off of $10 each day.  That being said, we needed to change this Next Forty Day Challenge.  We will be more frugal with our spending, as we will be cooking almost every meal at home.  The only way we will be eating at a restaurant is if one of your are footing the bill…………..

July 21 – August 29

SPENDING OUR WORDS WISELY

For this 40-day challenge, we’ll be straying away from doing the same challenge… kind of. We’ll be choosing to spend our words wisely. Slim is a potty-mouth, so he’ll be giving up cursing. For every curse word he let’s fly, he’ll be putting $1 in a jar to be used for the next 40-day challenge.

Laura will be using her words to reconnect with friends that she has lost touch with, or haven’t connected with in a great while.

August 30 – October 8

40-DAY FUNDRAISER

We’ll be spending 40 days raising funds for two different purposes: 1. Alzheimer’s awareness and 2. the following 40-day challenge.

October 9 – November 16

40-DAY GIVEAWAY

For this 40-day challenge, we will go through our belongings and see what we can do without. It could be clothes, TV’s, furniture, whatever the case may be, and putting it all in a pile… one possession per day. At the end of this 40 days, we’ll be donating all of these items to a local charity or friends in need.

November 17 – December 26

ACTS OF KINDNESS

For this 40-day challenge, we’ll be reaching out to others to do something kind for them. This could be as little as holding doors open, returning carts at the grocery, and complimenting them, to as big as helping to buy groceries, providing Thanksgiving dinner to those less fortunate, or buying Christmas gifts for those in need.

Additionally, we’ll be randomly picking 40 names and addresses from the phone book to write and mail letters of encouragement to.

December 27 – February 3

FRIED FOOD, FAST FOOD, AND CAFFEINE
TRAIN FOR A 5K

Due to a drastic lifestyle change long before this challenge, we’ve already cut out fried food, fast food, and caffeine. So for this challenge, we’ll train extra hard to participate in a 5k run at Ft. Myers Beach in March. We’re not runners…. even a little bit…. so this is a HUGE challenge for us!

February 4 – March 16

WARM BEDS AND HOT SHOWERS

For this 40-day challenge, we’ll be giving up two things that most people take for granted: warm beds and hot showers. During this challenge, we will only take cold showers and sleep on the floor, cots, our couches.

March 17 – April 25

MEAT

For our final 40-day challenge, we’ll revisit the challenge that started this whole project: giving up meat. It was tough the first time…. will it be as hard the second?
